Officials in Habersham County arrested five people in connection with illegal narcotic activity Saturday in Demorest.
Mitchell Posey of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office said in a press release that authorities were investigating a citizens' complaint that drugs were being sold from a home on Chuck Wagon Drive in Demorest. He said that when officals arrived they found the home's owner, 41-year-old Bruce Reaves, along with four other people and seized around $2,000 worth of marijuana, methamphetamine, oxycodone and dilaudid.
The suspects, including 31-year-old Wanis Thonetheva of Athens, 38-year-old Thomas Adams of Commerce, 41-year-old Kimberly Shirley of Cornelia and 26-year-old Amira Rubian of Clarkesville were arrested and transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
Posey said officials with the Habersham County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit assisted the DEO in the search.
