AUGUSTA -- University of North Georgia softball pitcher Courtney Poole has been named the AstroTurf softball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The honor marks the first time in program history that a UNG softball player has four weekly awards from the league in one season.

Poole helped guide the Nighthawks to a perfect 6-0 record on the week and recorded five of the six wins in the circle. The junior hurled 33.0 innings, struck out 46 batters and gave up only three earned runs for a 0.64 ERA.

Her best effort came in a 2-0 win over USC Aiken where she fanned 12 batters for a complete game one-hit shutout.

On the year Poole has 30 wins, which places her eighth in Peach Belt history for single season wins. With Poole's help the Nighthawks are riding an 18 game winning streak. She ranks first in the league in ERA (0.81), wins (30), and strikeouts (235).

North Georgia returns to the field on Tuesday, Apr. 14 with a 4 p.m. home doubleheader against Columbus State.
