CLARKESVILLE - For twenty-seven years, Daniel Gregg has been serving North Georgia Technical College and the students who have passed through its doors.  "He will be missed," said Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mike King.

Gregg is, himself, a product of technical education, getting his start in Rogersville, Tennessee, in Welding.  After becoming a journeyman ironworker, he moved into the role of apprentice instructor with the Tennessee Valley Authority. In the classroom he taught Welding, Machine Tool, and Blueprint Reading.

He and his wife, Carmen, moved to Toccoa when he was offered a job at Dempster Manufacturing, and one of his duties was to hire welders.

"I came to North Georgia Tech to hire welders, but pretty soon they hired me to teach," he said. Starting in 1988, he taught Welding for six years before moving into a staff position in Career Services working with students to develop career plans. "I've done it all from testing and assessment to working with students who have special needs or disabilities. It is very rewarding to work with technical college students. They are very special."

Gregg received his bachelor's degree in Technical and Adult Education from the University of Tennessee and his master's degree, also in Technical and Adult Education, from Central Michigan University. He also served with the Air Force Band playing keyboard and woodwinds.
