PHOTO GALLERY: Some Corps parks on Lake Lanier closed because of flooding

By AccessWDUN Staff

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed several parks on Lake Lanier as heavy rains have pushed the lake level well above full winter pool.

Lisa Parker with the Corps office in Mobile, Alabama said at mid-morning Tuesday that Corps officials were working on a list of closures for Lanier and other lakes in the region managed by USACE.

As of 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, the level of Lake Lanier measured 1074.41; full winter pool for Lanier is 1071.

AccessWDUN reporters David Cook and Marc Eggers stopped at a few parks in Hall County to check on conditions and found some that were blocked to traffic. You can see those photos in this photo gallery.

The story on park closures will be updated when information is made available.
