GAINESVILLE - Muddy water and debris, carried by runoff from last week's rains, have invaded Lake Lanier in some places.
The level of the lake had increased another one-third foot as of mid-morning Sunday, compared to 24 hours earlier. The water is yellow-orange in places, something that was first noticed late last week, and debris - including some large tree trunks - continues to enter the lake along with the discolored water.
As of Sunday morning, the lake level had risen 2.96 feet since last Sunday and stood at 1073.34, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
