OAKWOOD — The Georgia State Patrol said Wednesday no charges will be filed in a Tuesday night crash in south Hall County that killed a 6-year-old boy.
Sgt. Anthony Coleman was the lead investigator for the incident. He said Wednesday morning the victim, Angel Juarez Herrera, was a passenger in a car that was being driven by his mother, 33-year-old Giovanna Juarez.
Coleman said the fatal crash happened on Sloan Mill Road at Poplar Springs Road just after 7 p.m. He said conditions were foggy in the area at the time of the crash.
"She did tell me that she did see the stop sign, she was applying her brakes and that she did see a vehicle approaching from her left, but at that point, she said she didn't remember anything else," said Coleman.
Juarez also had three other passengers in the vehicle - her three daughters, ages 5, 8 and 16. All three were injured and at last report remain hospitalized.
Two other vehicles also were involved in the crash, according to Coleman. The drivers of those vehicles sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Coleman said while no charges will be filed, Juarez was the at-fault driver in the accident.
"There wasn't anything done in reckless conduct or malice or [any] intoxication, so I won't be issuing any charges against her," said Coleman.
