Positive rabies alert in East Hall County

GAINESVILLE - Another positive rabies alert has been issued in Hall County, the 16th case in the county this year.

According to a release from Hall County Government, a dog came into contact with a rabid skunk in the Hewell Road area in the eastern part of the county.

The skunk was taken to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur, where it tested positive for the disease. Positive alert signs have been posted in the area.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter in Gainesville for $10 Tuesday through Friday during normal business hours.
