A Gainesville man was arrested Monday morning after firing multiple gunshots at a residence on Harmony Church Road.

Gilberto Candido Bonilla-Jaimes, 48, of Gainesville, was reportedly dropping a child off at a residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. Bonilla-Jaimes and a woman got into a verbal argument outside the house, according to officials.

At the end of the argument, Bonilla-Jaimes got into his vehicle and brandished a handgun from the driver-side window, firing multiple gunshots in the direction of the woman and child, authorities said Tuesday.

Preliminary investigations showed five places where bullets struck the residence. At the time of the shooting, there were reportedly four people inside the home. No one was injured.

Deputies arrived at Bonilla-Jaimes' residence on Floyd Road in Gainesville shortly after, believing him to be inside and armed. Attempts to communicate with Bonilla-Jaimes failed and officers obtained a search warrant and contacted SWAT for assistance.

Prior to the arrival of the SWAT unit, Bonilla-Jaimes emerged from inside at approximately 1:30 a.m. and surrendered.

He was reportedly booked into the Hall County Jail on four counts of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act.
