CLEVELAND - Several people constructing a shop in White County were injured in a jobsite accident Saturday afternoon.
Contractors were installing rafters and trusses at property on Mossy Creek Church Road south of Cleveland when the trusses began to fall, causing a domino effect, according to White County Public Safety spokeswoman Ana Newberry.
"Some workers were on the trusses putting them up and some workers were on the ground," Newberry said in a statement. "Once the trusses started to fall, they hit and trapped the workers; those on the ground were hit by the trusses and the workers above had fallen to the ground. Two of the workers were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries."
Firefighters from White County Fire Services and Cleveland Fire Department worked for almost an hour to remove the injured workers and get them to White County Emergency Medical Services personnel for transport.
