MADISON, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a Morgan County High School football player has been killed in a single-vehicle wreck hours after a game.
The Georgia State Patrol told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that 17-year-old Seth Daniel Stapleton was driving a pickup truck, lost control in a slight curve and ran off the road around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities say Stapleton wasn't wearing a seatbelt when ejected from the vehicle after the truck hit a driveway culvert and two trees then overturned. Stapleton was taken to Morgan Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say was the only person in the truck. He was a senior offensive lineman at Morgan County.
The Morgan County High School Touchdown Club will be holding a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the school's football field.
