CLERMONT - Staff from Americans Helping Americans including Interim Executive Director Beth Tessema will visit Caring Hands Ministries on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Also, on that day Caring Hands Ministries will distribute 330 winter coats, 200 hats, 200 gloves and 200 scarves for children, along with 100 coats for adults, 200 pairs of shoes, 150 blankets and 100 containers of laundry detergent provided by Americans Helping Americans with a total estimated in-kind value of $28,465.

“Americans Helping Americans is proud to be able to provide assistance to people in need in Hall, Lumpkin, White, Habersham and Dawson counties through our partnership with Caring Hands Ministries,” said Tessema, noting that their long-standing partnership began in 2010.

Working in tandem with its partner organizations, Americans Helping Americans provides emergency assistance such as food and help with paying utility bills, and supports numerous after-school and summer camp programs for children, home rehabilitation for elderly and disabled homeowners, and help for our nation’s heroes, our veterans.

Caring Hands Ministries Executive Director Ann Fleming says the national organization is "saving and changing lives" by making this help possible. Local emergency services say that a warm coat is all that kept a homeless lady from freezing to death," a coat it helped provide.

Fleming says the coat, blanket , shoe,  and detergent give away will be October 22, 3:30-6:30, at 6483 Cleveland Hwy (Hwy 129) Clermont in the same building where Papa’s Pizza is located.   In addition to the new things Americans Helping Americans is providing there is a local collection for warm clothes, coats, blankets etc .  Donations may be brought to Caring Hands Office or left at Yonah Book Exchange next to the train engine on Georgia Highway 75 in Sautee.

In addition, volunteers are needed before the clothing giveaway to help set up and afterwards to help pick up as well as to help at the give away.   For more information, you can call 706 219 1980 or 678 346 1437 or visit http://http://www.caringhandsministries.com/ .   More information about Americans Helping Americans is available athttp://www.helpingamericans.org/ .
