GAINESVILLE - Authorities have closed a portion of Lenox Drive in Gainesville as a precaution after a culvert collapsed due to the recent stretch of inclement weather.
According to Cpl. Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department, the onslaught of rain and runoff water over the past few days caused the culvert to fail, prompting the road closure in order to assess damage, begin making repairs and protect locals from any potential accidents.
A detour has been established for those needing to access Lenox Dr., with traffic being diverted to nearby Floyd Rd.
Holbrook said the closure can be expected to last through the night, with the possibility of continued closures extending into Wednesday morning.
