Jefferson man loses life in morning wreck

JEFFERSON - A Jefferson man was killed in a single vehicle traffic accident late Monday morning in Jackson County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, 29 year old Brian Allan Churchill died in the crash while driving a on Benton Road, about four miles west of Jefferson. It happened around 11:50 a.m.

Authorities said Churchill was negotiating a curve and lost control of the 2008 BMW M3. According to troopers, the car hit a fence, overturned, hit a utility pole, overturned again and then hit a tree.

A passenger involved in the crash, Terry Churchill, was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment. Troopers did not immediately know Terry Churchill's age or condition.

Both victims were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not involved, according the state patrol.
