Lakeview Academy yearbook wins national award

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Jostens representative Pat Cornelius recently presented Lakeview Academy yearbook faculty sponsor Brooke Burt and the 2011-12 yearbook staff with the National Yearbook Program of Excellence award.

Jostens developed the award to recognize schools that continually strive to create a great yearbook for their students by excelling in the creation and distribution of their book. Additional criteria includea meaningful book for all students, a book that includes a vast majority of the student body, a book distributed to all students, and a staff who meet all the yearbook deadlines.

When asked about her thoughts on the staff receiving this award, Burt replied, "Each day, the yearbook staff works diligently to be sure we put out a product of which the school can be proud and what we hope represents the community of the school we love. To get the National Yearbook Award of Excellence says so much about the students who dedicate their time to our yearbook program. It is a reflection of their talents and devotion to capturing the memories that will stay with the students at Lakeview in a tangible way. I am so proud of each member of our staff."

Earlier this year, Flowery Branch High School was also recognized by Jostens for its year book. (See earlier story.) Fewer than two percent of Jostens' 18,000+ yearbook partners achieve this award.
