Former White Co. manager uninjured in Clermont crash

CLERMONT - A former White County manager was involved in the early morning accident that caused power outages in the Clermont area Tuesday.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said Carol Jackson, who has also served as a state senator and was appointed in November as the director of legislative affairs for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, crashed into a utility pole at Georgia 284 and Georgia 254 around 6 a.m., leaving roughly 1,200 people without power.

Wright said dense fog contributed to the crash and that Jackson was not injured in the incident.

Georgia Power Company officials said they had restored power to all 1,200 customers affected by the downed power pole on Main Street in Clermont by 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
