Knighton establishes 30-day goals

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The new Hall County Administrator has established a set of goals he hopes to accomplish during the next 30 days.

Randy Knighton includes developing a formal plan for soliciting citizen input and a "clear method" of getting revenue and budget updates to the public and county commission on a regular basis.

The complete list is as follows:

*Develop a formal mechanism to solicit citizen input on a variety of matters.
We want to know how our county government can serve our citizens at a higher
level.

*Collaborate with staff to evaluate the entire organizational structure to
determine if and where there can be streamlined operations, greater integration
across departmental functions, and cross-training of employees.

*Challenge all county departments to assess how their operations follow
the county's mission to "promote, encourage and develop a strong, viable
community and ensure that all citizens share in prosperity by providing efficient, accessible and responsible public service."

*Develop a clear method of communicating revenue and budget updates to
the citizens and Board of Commissioners on a regular basis.

*Meet with the constitutional and other elected officers to better understand
the needs and demands of their respective offices. This will result in a better flow of communication between county departments and more efficient use of county resources.

*Meet with the Hall County Board of Education administration to further explore
partnership opportunities and ways the county can support the efforts of the
school system to advance education for all students in Hall County.

*Meet with the Chamber of Commerce to enhance ways of providing support for
economic development opportunities throughout the county.

*Meet with all city governments in Hall County to establish better
communication and potential collaboration between the county and cities.
