GAINESVILLE - More retail growth is planned along Winder Highway which has seen a spurt in such activity since a stretch of the road was four-laned several years ago.
Hall County planners are being asked by General Property Group to rezone a 1.5-acre tract at the Technology Parkway intersection to allow for retail sales.
Winder Highway was widened to four lanes between Blackshear Place and just west of Road Atlanta and shopping centers and other commercial/office development has accelerated since then.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the county, a day care center is in the works for Thompson Bridge Road at Mount Vernon Road. Strong Oak Academy is asking for a Use Subject to County Commission approval.
Both requests - previously tabled by the Hall County Planning Commission - are scheduled to be taken up by the planning board July 18.
