GAINESVILLE - Hundreds of people waited in a steady rain for about two hours at Laurel Park in North Hall Monday night for the annual July 4 fireworks show.
It was the 48th annual edition of the fireworks display, sponsored by American Legion Post #7 in Gainesville.
Some boats began lining up well ahead of time for a good view and the 24-minute barrage went off around 9:30.
Sunny skies prevailed most of the day and Laurel Park was filled all day with picnickers, swimmers, sunbathers, and others celebrating Independence Day.
