COMMERCE - Four people - including a woman, her son and his daughter - are under arrest in Commerce in connection with a four-county burglary ring that netted more than $20,000 in tools.
Commerce Police Detective Jason Black confirmed Wednesday morning that 65-year-old Frances Irene Wilson, 42-year-old Tommy Lee Wilson Junior, and 22-year-old Kayla Wilson are charged with stealing the tools from homes and stores.
Black says the stores that were hit were Lowe's and The Home Depot.
He says the items taken from the stores were shoplifted by Kayla Wilson, also of Commerce, and 25-year-old Melvin James Pritchett III of Maysville and that some of them were returned to the stores in an attempt to get refund money. Some of the used items were sold on the street, Black said.
Black says the thefts occurred in Habersham, Banks, Madison and Jackson counties and that anyone who may have been the victim of the theft of power tools and has a serial number should contact him to see if their missing items are among those that were recovered with the arrests.
Black said seven people have been arrested and he doesn't anticipate any more arrests. In addition to the Wilsons and Pritchett, he provided one other name, Tommy Wilson's girlfriend, 35-year-old Crystal Coile of Commerce.
