North Ga. Canopy Tours expands

By Staff
LULA - North Georgia Canopy Tours has added new features and enhancements to its zipline operation in Lula.

A new zipline tour, a disc golf course, geocaching, rustic camping and "glamping" underneath the stars in teepees are among the added attractions.

The newly-added Premium Adventure Tour is limited to six participants for a more intimate zipline experience. The Tour follows the original Adventure Tour course, with the added benefit of an expert personal photographer to video every moment on a DVD that includes still photos of the Tour experience and of the property's natural features.

North Georgia Canopy Tours is now an approved Four Stage Geocache site approved by GroundSpeak. This high-tech, GPS assisted, treasure hunting pastime is enjoyed by five million people.

In addition, the property is developing the first professional and recreational 18 hole disc golf course in Hall County with a grand opening April 9. The par-62 course was designed with help from board members of the Atlanta Disc Golf Organization.

"Glamping" underneath the stars comes to North Georgia Canopy Tours in mid-May.

Participants can relax in luxury teepees with comfortable and upscale bedding, floor coverings and lighting, with electricity (as in air conditioning) and wood stoves. Those who prefer rustic camping can bring their own tents for the traditional camping experience. Each will enjoy complete bathroom facilities.

Founded by an Atlanta couple, attorney Kirk Watkins and Health Care Regulatory Specialist Leah Watkins, North Georgia Canopy Tours opened on April 1.

According to Kirk, "Since we opened last year, we have asked every participant how we could improve our adventure destination. Our guests and our 13,000+ Facebook fans have told us they wanted camping and more activities on the property so they could enjoy a longer stay. While ziplining remains our core business, the new offerings allow people to enjoy a day or a weekend in the natural beauty of North Georgia."
