GAINESVILLE - A number of public and private agencies are coming together again this year to offer free tax preparation services to people in Gainesville and Hall County who qualify.
The Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center is partnering in the effort with the United Way of Hall County, Brenau University, Gainesville Housing Authority, and the Goodwill of North Georgia Oakwood Career Center.
The 2011 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Sites will open next Monday.
Phillippa Lewis Moss, Director of the Community Service Center, said the addition of the Goodwill Career Center in Oakwood as a tax site will allow more people in our community to be served.
"This year, more than ever, families are looking for ways to cut costs and make the most of their annual state and federal refund checks. The free tax preparation services are offered by IRS trained volunteers and are available to families with annual gross incomes up to $49,000.00," Moss said.
Tax services will be offered at three sites: 1) Community Service Center at 430 Prior Street, S.E. in Gainesville, 2) Gainesville Housing Authority at 750 Pearl Nix Parkway in Gainesville, and 3) Goodwill of North Georgia at 3715 Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood.
