CUMMING-Deputy Taryn Perkins Wins "Tough Cop" Gold Medal at the Georgia Police & Fire Games Competition.
Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Taryn Perkins has captured First Place in the "Tough Cop" female officer competition at the 2010 Georgia Police & Fire Games, Sheriff Ted Paxton announced today.
The Games, now in their 16th year, draw police officers and fire fighters from all over the State of Georgia to compete for bragging rights in a number of different competitions. Contestants compete based on age and gender.
The Games were held earlier this week in Carroll County. Deputy Perkins, who is a five-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, won a gold medal in the "Tough Cop" competition.
"Tough Cop" contestants compete in five different categories, all of which are designed to simulate what might be expected while on the job. The five areas are pushing a car, pulling a dummy a certain distance, running, shooting and a timed obstacle course.
Deputy Perkins also won a gold medal in the 5K Run competition as well.
