NASA executive named to Brenau Board of Trustees

GAINESVILLE - Brenau University's Board of Trustees has unanimously elected NASA executive Dr. Gale J. Allen, a resident of Springfield, Va., to serve a four-year term on the governing board of the 2,700-student university.

Allen, who is director of the strategic integration and management in the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate of the nation's space program, will also deliver addresses at Brenau's two commencement exercises in Gainesville on May 8 and 9. A scientist by background, Allen credits the M.B.A. degree she earned in 1991 at Brenau's branch campus at Kings Bay, Ga., with helping her crack the "glass ceiling" in the male-dominated defense and aerospace establishment.
