20,000 chickens killed in fire at Cumming poultry farm

By The Associated Press
CUMMING - More than 20,000 chickens have been killed in a fast-moving fire at a Forsyth County poultry farm.

Forsyth County fire department spokesman Capt. Jason Shivers said firefighters were called to the farm just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the blaze was fully involved when they arrived and that chicken houses burn quickly because there's an open frame and a lot of wood, dust and feathers.

Two other nearby chicken houses were believed to be damaged.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
