Sooners `anxious' for BCS championship game

By The Associated Press
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Coach Bob Stoops believes No. 2 Oklahoma is doing a good job of balancing the anticipation of playing in the BCS national championship with a long layoff leading up to the game.

Stoops said at a news conference Wednesday morning that the Sooners (12-1) are anxious to face top-ranked Florida (12-1) on Thursday night in Miami, but will try to pace themselves until game time.

By then, it will have been 33 days since Oklahoma beat Missouri in the Big 12 championship game.

Stoops says it's possible to peak too early, but he thinks the Sooners have done their best to be on edge at the right time.
