Girls soccer playoffs: CBluff, Dawson, EJax, Jefferson advance; Union, Rabun, EHall, Commerce, Johnson lose

Class 3A, 2A and A D1 took center stage Thursday night in the first round of the GHSA girls soccer playoffs. 

In Class 3A, No. 8 Dawson County (13-4) needed two late goals to break away from No. 25 LaGrange (6-13) at Tiger Stadium. Ruth Lopez scored with 17 minutes left to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead. With nine minutes to go, McKinley Adamson punched the insurance goal for the 2-0 win. The Lady Tigers will play the No. 9 Richmond Academy-No. 24 Calhoun winner at home on May 1.

Meanwhile, in Flowery Branch, Bristol Kersh paced No. 13 seed Cherokee Bluff past No. 20 West Laurens (12-7). Kersh netted five goals and dished out two assists in the 11-1 win. The Lady Bears (12-6) will travel to No. 4 Northwest Whitfield on May 1.

Also in Class 3A, top-seed Jefferson (14-3) knocked off No. 32 seed East Hall, 8-0, at Memorial Stadium. Jefferson will play No. 17 seed Lumpkin County on May 1 at home. Oconee County shut out Johnson, 4-0, in Watkinsville. 

In Class 2A, eighth-seeded East Jackson (12-3) advanced to the second round with a 4-0 win over Sumter County.
