Tennis: JHS boys hand Gainesville first loss (3/20)

OAKWOOD - The Class AAA No. 6 Johnson boys tennis team handed No. 3 Gainesville its first loss of the season with a 3-2 win Thursday.

Johnson (9-4, 6-2 7B-AAA) got wins from Seth Hester at No. 1 singles, who beat Andreo Belch in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. William Anthony and Scott Allan took the second point at No. 2 doubles with a straight set victory over Robbie Bilbrough and Drew Denning 6-4, 6-4. Brandon Sloan sealed the win for the Knights with a 3-set win over Ryan Joiner 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 single.

Gainesville (9-1, 7-1) got wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 Singles. Louis Hokayem and Graham Williams beat TJ Williams and Stephen Hester 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 5-7 at No. 1 doubles and at No. 3 singles James Wassel beat Billy Hulsey 6-1, 6-0.

Johnson next will play host to Flowery Branch Tuesday.
