North Hall will add impressive list of 6 to Hall of Fame in 2025

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — An impressive list and six new members will be inducted into the North Hall Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 in the fall.

It will be the third class of inductees since the school created its Hall of Fame in 2023.

Paul Powers (swimming), Jim Lofton (football coach), Greg Williams (boys basketball coach), Ronny Hulsey (boys basketball), Marie Faulkner (first girls basketball coach), and Andrew Smith (football, baseball, basketball) will be enshrined on Friday, September 19th at 5 p.m. in North Hall’s main gym.

“ This is a such a strong class, it’s a great mix of 65 years of North Hall legacy and Elite talent, as it should be,” North Hall Athletics Director Sam Borg said. "It’s a special honor to get in as the committee has received over 100 nominations for candidates."

The is committee composed of former athletes, teachers, coaches, administrators, and community members making the ultimate decisions. Candidates have to be a minimum of 5 years removed for consideration from the HOF committee.

Still the current All State (All Classification) record holder in the 50 free, the 100 free, and still holds 6 North Hall records

Signed with the University of Michigan and was an 8x Big 10 Champion and a 7x NCAA All American.


Jim Lofton (football coach, 1987-1994)
Lofton left as winningest coach in program history at the time. He was the first Trojans coach to defeat Gainesville (1989). The field at Greater Atlanta Christian is still named after Jim Lofton after he led them to their first state semifinal in program history in 1998.


Greg Williams (boys basketball coach, 1985-2003)
A 1975 North Hall grad, William's spent 17 years as the coach of the Trojans, amssing 249 wins, which is still most program, and guiding them to the Elite 8 in 2001. He guided the Trojans to their first-ever region title at the time (1991) and won Lanierland as both a player (1974) and a coach (1993) for North Hall. He later served as AD and Principal at West Hall in Hall County.


Ronny Hulsey (boys basketball, 2001-2005)
Hulsey piled up 1,588 points, which still stands as the progam's all-time leading scorer.


Marie Faulkner (girls basketball coach (1967-1981)
Faulkner was the first girls basketball coach at North Hall and won several region titles and five Lanierland crowns in her tenure.


Andrew Smith (football, baseball, basketball, 2010-2014)
Smith was a 2x All-State football player, a 2x Region Player of the Year, and the team MVP of the Trojans' 2012 Final Four squad.
In baseball, he was a 4-year starter and helped lead the team to the 2013 Final Four.. He finished with .436 career batting average with 122 stolen bases. He played 5 years of college football at Air Force.
