MACON -- Reggie Middleton and Shawn Allen each scored 18 points to lead Glenn Hills to a 64-57 win over Carver-Columbus in the Class AAA boys championship game on Saturday night.
Glenn Hills (29-2) claimed its first boys title in the 40-year history of the school. The girls basketball team had been crowned champs in 2002.
The Tigers (22-10) cut the lead to 59-55 with 1:09 remaining in the fourth quarter on a layup by Carlos Ross. But Shawn Allen hit two free throws to push Glenn Hills ahead by six points.
Jarvis Jones scored 23 points for Carver-Columbus, which was attempting to become the first school since Clinch County in 1999 to win a football and basketball title in the same school year.
