ATLANTA - State Rep. Doug Collins of Gainesville will apparently be allowed to vote from Iraq when the next state House speaker is picked on Monday.
InsiderAdvantage reports that the current speaker, Glenn Richardson, is asking that House Republican Caucus rules be changed so Collins can vote. Collins is an Air Force reservist who was deployed to Iraq a few months ago.
Richardson and other House leaders had been under increased pressure in recent days from other House members to allow Collins to vote.
InsiderAdvantage says Richardson has asked Rep. Amos Amerson of Dahlonega to introduce the proposed rule change to the caucus on his behalf.
