Lions stay perfect in 7-AAAAA after win over Collins Hill

LAWRENCEVILLE - A 69-yard interception return for a touchdown by Brian Williams with just seconds left in the first half sparked to Peachtree Ridge to a 21-0 over Collins Hill Friday night in a key Region 7-AAAAA showdown.

The win for Peachtree Ridge (5-2, 5-0 in region) moved the Lions into a two-way tie with North Gwinnett atop the region stanstay perfect in 7-AAAdings. The two teams will meet in the final game of the regular season in three weeks.

Collins Hill was unable to get much going the entire game thanks to a stout Lions defense led by brothers Tanner and Tyler Botts and DB Kevin Minter, who wreaked havoc on the Eagles offense all night.

"We're really proud of our defense." Peachtree Ridge Coach Bill Ballard said. "We knew we had to get pressure on their quarterback (Michael Box), because if you don't , he'll pick you apart. We challenged our defense to step up against a very good offense and they came to play."

Both defenses dominated the first half forcing turnovers and holding on downs until Williams interception broke a scoreless to give Peachtree Ridge a 7-0 lead at halftime.
