CUMMING - Forsyth County will mark its 175th anniversary on December 3 with a special anniversary event.
It will be held in the Forsyth County Administration Building and will feature a special presentation as well as a display of historical county photos.
Forsyth County was created on December 3, 1832, from a partition of the Cherokee County Territory, formerly the Cherokee Nation East.
The county was named for John Forsyth, who served as Attorney General of Georgia, United States Senator, United States Representative, United States Minister to Spain, thirty-first Governor of Georgia and United States Secretary of State under Presidents Jackson and Van Buren.
