Week's worth of maintenance work planned on Cleveland Highway

GAINESVILLE - Expect delays for about a week on U.S. 129/Cleveland Highway between Gainesville and Cleveland as the state Department of Transportation begins some routine maintenance of the road today.

The work will take place daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and is expected to be finished by next Friday.

DOT officials say one lane of the road will be closed during the work.

"DOT Crews begin repairing edge ruts on Cleveland Highway/US 129 (Thursday)," said DOT spokeswoman Teri Pope. "Crews will work in two-mile sections starting at Limestone Parkway. We will work north first and then coming back and working south. Once finished with that section, work will begin on the next two-mile section. Flaggers will be utilized to allow traffic to flow through the work zone. We do expect delays so please avoid the area if you can."
