Donald Trump is coming to Atlanta.

The New York developer said Friday he plans to open two high-rise condominium towers in midtown. Trump Towers Atlanta will be Trump's first project in the city.

The $300 million project will include 30 to 40 stories of high-end luxury condominiums on top of eight floors of parking, boutique retailers and restaurants, said Scott Greenfield, a development analyst at Marietta, Ga.-based Wood Partners LLC, which is working with Trump and New York-based Dezer Properties on the plan.

Trump Towers Atlanta will have about 600 to 615 residential units varying in size and will be located at 15th and West Peachtree streets, near the Woodruff Arts Center, Greenfield said. Units will range from $400,000 to more than $1 million, said Mark Randall, Wood Partners' regional director in Atlanta.

"Atlanta has proven to be one of the strongest condominium markets in the U.S.," Randall said. "It's one of the few markets that's really been able to support a substantial amount of high-rise condominiums."

Midtown has seen an explosion of growth in recent years as many young professionals have moved into town. Randall said there also has been a migration of empty nesters into town.

Trump did not return several calls to his office seeking comment.

Construction is expected to begin early next year. The first phase is expected to be completed by early 2009.

The site is currently a parking lot that Wood Partners bought earlier this year for $21 million, Randall said.
