Public invited to visit Kangaroo Center in Dawsonville

DAWSONVILLE - With National Endangered Species Day scheduled for May 11th, the Kangaroo Conservation Center in Dawsonville wants to teach the public more about a specific kind of animal.

Facility supervisor Jeremy Maneyapanda said the very small Brush-Tail Bettong kangaroo is on the brink of extinction in Australia.

"We're one of the few institutions in North America that actually has an effective breeding program for Brush-Tail Bettongs," said Maneyapanda. "It's something that we participate in very, very proudly here."

Maneyapanda said the Kangaroo Center is one of the very few of its kind in the world. It has regular tours for the public, but unfortunately May 11th has been booked solid. However, Maneyanpanda invites interested parties to call and make a reservation for other days.

The center boasts the largest collection of kangaroos outside Australia. For more information, follow the link below.
