Well-known Gainesville minister dies

GAINESVILLE - A well-known Gainesville minister, Rev. J. Fred Breed, has died.

Rev. Breed had spent almost 60 years in the ministry . Just last month, he was named Minister of Pastoral Care Emeritus at Lakewood Baptist Church. He died Wednesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 Saturday at Lakewood.

Rev.. Breed was ordained in 1946. He pastored several churches throughout the country, before moving back to Gainesville in 1974, where he became a member of Lakewood Baptist Church, serving for 15 years as Minister of Pastoral Care.

He was a volunteer Chaplain at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for over 20 years, was active in the Gainesville Civitan Club and was a past Civitan district governor. (See complete obituary elsewhere on this site.)
