ATLANTA - The widening of State Route 5 and State Route 60 Spur in Fannin County has been placed in the Georgia Department of Transportation's Construction Work Program (CWP).
The SR 5 project is eight miles of widening from two lanes to five lanes with a flush median from Highway 515/Blue Ridge North to the proposed McCaysville Bypass near County Road 138. SR 60 Spur is 9.4 miles of widening and reconstruction from two to five lanes from Highway 515 to the North Carolina border by the Mineral Bluff bypass.
These projects were deleted from the CWP in 2005, but due to recent discussions with state and local officials from the area, they are now included in the CWP. The CWP is a listing of all projects to be funded at some level-whether preliminary engineering, right-of-way or construction by the GDOT in a six-year time frame.
