STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) Three of six injured Mississippi State players returned to the practice field Monday.
Linebacker Gabe O'Neal, offensive lineman Calvin Wilson and receiver Tay Bowser practiced in yellow jerseys meaning they were permitted to participate in practice. They previously wore red-cross jerseys, signifying injury.
O'Neal is recovering from off-season knee surgery. Wilson had minor knee surgery during the summer. Bowser injured a hamstring last week during practice.
Coach Sylvester Croom is upset about injuries to his receivers and to his offensive tackles.
``We're missing too many assignments and, even though he was better today, Calvin is still not completely healthy,'' Croom said. ``And injury at wide receiver has slowed us down. The pace of work is more than what some of them have been used to. And we can't feel sorry for ourselves there.''
Three injured players are being held out of practice: receiver Will Prosser, who is recovering from foot surgery; tight end-fullback Dezmond Sherrod, who has a hip flexor; and offensive guard Anthony Dunning, who hurt a shoulder last week.
