Baseball playoffs: Raiders look to continue Game 3 magic vs. Newnan

NEWNAN, Ga. — Habersham Central continued to show its most dangerous when its back is against the wall.

On Wednesday, the Raiders staved off elimination again, this time in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A playoffs, winning Game 2 over Newnan, 4-2, to tie their best-of-three series at a game apiece. They lost the first game 2-1 in 12 innings.

The win moved Habersham Central (25-15) to 4-0 in the playoffs in elimination games. The Raiders trailed Lee County 1-0 in their first round series before rallying to win the last two. They were tied 1-1 with South Paulding in the second round but advanced after winning Game 3. And then Wednesday's comeback. They are 2-0 in Game 3s so far in the 2025 playoffs.

Game 3 against the Tigers (27-5) is set for 6 p.m. in Newnan on Thursday.
