And then there were just three.
Cherokee Bluff and Jefferson in Class 3A and Buford in Class 6A will try and keep their Georgia High School Association playoff runs going on Thursday with monster semifinal showdowns.
The Lady Wolves (20-0) will get the rematch they have been looking for all season, taking on defending Class 7A state champion West Forsyth (19-1) at home. The last time the two teams met, the Lady Wolverines survived a 7-6 penalty kick round to beat Buford 2-1 in that title match. The two teams have been on a collision course all season and now the Lady Wolves will get their shot at redemption.
As for the Lady Bears and Lady Dragons, only one of them will survive the night. Region 8-3A champion Jefferson (16-3) plays host to 8-3A runner-up Bluff (14-6) at Memorial Stadium with the winner moving on to the state title match.
The Lady Dragons knocked off the Lady Bears 2-0 back on March 7 in their only meeting of the season. However, Bluff was without national star and dynamic goal-scorer Bristol Kersh that night as she was helping lead the Lady Bears basketball team win a state title.
Something will definitely have to give as Jefferson has only allowed 7 goals all season and pitched three consecutive shutouts in the playoffs. Kersh scored six in a 10-0 Bluff route of Gilmer in the quarterfinals on Monday and the Lady Bears have scored 24 goals in the 2025 playoffs.
