ATLANTA (AP) Norcross High School entered The Associated Press high school football poll this week the hard way beating Parkview 14-6 on the road. The Blue Devils also provided poll voters with enough reasons to drop the Panthers to their lowest ranked position in four years.

Lowndes continues to be the unanimous choice for No. 1 in Class AAAAA, but the new No. 2 Camden County got some help after Parkview fell to No. 6. Valdosta moved up one slot to No. 3 and Brookwood moved up two notches to No. 4. Norcross enters the poll at No. 9 while Walton's idle week paved the way for its exit.

Another giant killer appeared in Class A when Washington-Wilkes edged perennial Class AAA power Thomson 10-7. Although Washington-Wilkes only moved up one to No. 4, Thomson for the first time in a long time fell from the rankings. Bowdon remains at No. 1 with Bremen and Hawkinsville trading places at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Portal enters the poll at No. 10 as Lincoln County exits after a 15-7 loss to Burke County.

Aside from Thomson's troubles in Class AAA, Washington County holds on at No. 1 while No. 2 Cartersville and No. 3 LaGrange flip-flopped. Troup enters the poll for the first time at No. 10.

Class AA saw little change with Charlton County, Buford and Dublin continuing at the top. No. 7 Brooks County, No. 8 Greene County and No. 9 Greater Atlanta Christian each moved up one place after Fitzgerald dropped to No. 10 losing 26-13 to Tift County.

The only change in the Class AAAA rankings is No. 3 Tucker and No. 4 Rome exchanging positions. Warner Robins remains No. 1 and Statesboro records a second week at No. 2.

(Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
