Body of one missing fisherman recovered

By by Ken Stanford
CLAYTON - The body of one of two missing fishermen has been recovered from Lake Rabun (correct) after the two disappeared after two boats collided on the lake Thursday night.

Robin Hill, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Natural Resources, says there were two people in each boat. Hill says the passengers were thrown from the vessels, but the others are okay. She adds both vessels were moving at the time and had their running lights on as required by law.

Hill says the accident happened about 10:00 Thursday night near Hall's Boathouse.

A dive team from Oconee County, S.C., searched for a time Thursday night but called operations off until 8:00 Friday morning, when divers went back into the water.

Hill said early Friday afternoon that the body of one of the fishermen, a 16-year-old boy from Hollywood, Ga., had been recovered. However, his name has not been released. Still missing is Marty Ramey, 32, of Clayton.

(Due to a source's error, we earlier incorrectly reported that the accident had occurred on Lake Burton.)
