Southern Catholic College fills two more top level slots

DAWSONVILLE - Southern Catholic College, a regional private Catholic college in Dawsonville, which plans to open September 8, has filled two more key positions.

Carol M. Evanco will serve as vice president for Student Services and Gretchen H. Neill was named associate vice president of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning.

Prior to joining Southern Catholic College, Evanco was assistant vice president, Alumni Relations at Barry University in Miami, Fla. Under her leadership, the Alumni Association received $500,000 for alumni research and programming and funded three new scholarships. During her 15 years at Barry, she held a variety of key positions, including adjunct instructor and president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

She served on the Board of Trustees for the Florida Independent College Fund, the Board of Directors for Flightline Drug Testing and as a member of the Florida International Volunteer Corps. She also was a consultant for the Universidad Santa Maria de la Antigua in Panama City, Panama. Evanco holds a MBA from Barry University.

As associate vice president of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning, Neill will be responsible for developing and managing the College's strategic plans and programs. Neill holds more than 30 years of experience in higher education, specializing in managing and developing personnel, programming and academic support systems in a variety of multi-campus environments.

Most recently, she was Standards Administrator for the state of Georgia and the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission. Her earlier positions include chief administrative campus dean and as a provost of a large community college campus. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and has a master's in Library Science from Emory University. Neill also has served in a variety of appointed and elected leadership roles with the Georgia Association of Instructional Technology, the American Library Association, American Association of Community Colleges, and the American Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
