OAKWOOD - Blackshear Place Baptist Church, which has grown to become one of the largest congregations in Hall County, celebrated its 50th anniversary Sunday. <br>

There were about 40 charter members who met in 1955 at another church to form Blackshear Place.<br>

Church officials say more than 2,000 people now attend services each week.<br>
<br>
Sunday, the church marked its golden anniversary with special music and dinner on the ground - and plans to further expand it facilities at the Winder Highway/Atlanta Highway intersection.<br>
