City council begins budget hearings

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council begins the process of putting together a budget for the coming fiscal year Tuesday.

The council will convene at 8:30 for the first of two days of budget hearings from city department heads.

The session will actually begin with a financial status report, general fund summary, and revenue projections for FY '05.

Then, the first of 15 budget presentations will begin.

On Tuesday, the council is to hear from financial services and the marshal's office; city manager; planning; inspections; human resources and life/health insurance; general insurance; and TV 18.

Wednesday, also beginning at 8:30, presentations will be made by the police department, municipal court, fire department, solid waste, airport, vehicle services, pubic works, and cemetery fund.

The sessions will be held in the city manager's conference room at the Joint Administration Building.
