STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) Kevin Coker went 2-for-4 with one RBI as Southern Mississippi defeated Mississippi State 6-1 on Wednesday.<br>

The Golden Eagles (29-12) jumped ahead early taking advantage of a lead-off walk to Trey Sutton, who came around to scored on a fielding error. Jason Lowery hit a double, to plate two additional runs.<br>

Trey Cuevas had a solo home run to start the second. Southern Miss added two insurance runs, one in the fourth due to a throwing error and one in the ninth on a RBI single by Coker.<br>

Barry Bowden (3-3) gets the win. Bowden struck out five and allowed five hits.<br>

Brooks Dunn (4-2) took the loss for Mississippi State (28-12). Dunn struck out three, walked one, and allowed five hits.<br>
