CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) Two Clemson players will not play in the Tigers' bowl game after being suspended for academic reasons, and a third player has been dismissed for violating team rules, coach Tommy Bowden said Tuesday.
Tight end Bobby Williamson and defensive end Kwam Williams will be academically ineligible to play in the Dec. 27 Champs Sports Bowl.
Williamson, a senior, started nine of 11 regular season games and caught nine passes for 100 yards. The suspension ends his Clemson football career.
Williams, a redshirt sophomore who played in nine games this year, is expected to rejoin the team next semester.
Redshirt junior Kelvin Grant has been dismissed from the team for violating team rules, Bowden said.
Grant suffered a torn ACL in October and would not have been physically able to play in the bowl game. The receiver had 45 receptions for 437 yards in 26 games during his career with Clemson.
School officials said Grant is expected to transfer to another school.
