BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) Coleman Collins scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Virginia Tech to a 74-64 victory over William Mary Tuesday night.<br>

The Hokies (9-3) led 46-28 at halftime, and put the game out of reach for the Tribe (5-5) from the beginning. After William Mary's Laimis Kisielius scored the first basket, the Hokies responded with 10 unanswered points six of them coming on 3-pointers by Zabian Dowdell.<br>

Collins had 15 points in the first half and Dowdell 14, including all four of his 3-pointers.<br>
<br>
The Hokies built a lead of as much as 21 points early in the second half, but the Tribe rallied with less than five minutes left. William Mary narrowed the gap to eight twice, at 64-56 on a 3-pointer by Kisielius and again at 68-60 on a basket by Kisielius, who finished with nine points.<br>
<br>
But the Hokies widened the gap to the final margin on free throws by Washington, Collins and Dowdell.<br>

Dowdell had 18 points and Deron Washington 15 for the Hokies. Adam Payton led the Tribe with 20 points, Corey Cofield had 14 and Calvin Baker scored 10.<br>

The Hokies had 14 turnovers eight of them in the second half to 17 for the Tribe.<br>

Virginia Tech had eight steals, five in the first half. William Mary had five.<br>
