JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Guard Elton Nesbitt scored 24 points and visiting Georgia Southern held off a furious Jacksonville comeback to post an 84-79 win on Thursday.<br>

It was the Eagles' second win in two weeks over the Dolphins, after posting an 81-67 win at home on Dec. 14. Jacksonville lost its sixth consecutive game and fell to 1-8 on the season.<br>

Georgia Southern (8-4) held a 17-point lead at 71-54 with just under eight minutes to play when Jacksonville mounted its comeback attempt. The Dolphins went on an 18-3 run over the next four minutes to trim the deficit to 74-72. After the teams traded baskets, Nesbitt scored his team's next six points to open up a seven-point advantage of 82-75 with 39 seconds left in the game.<br>

Nesbitt is the reigning Southern Conference Player of the Week after scoring 28 points against Arkansas State.<br>

Jacksonville's Antonio Cool hit three 3-point shots in a 70-second span to spark the Dolphins' second-half rally. He finished with a career high 25 points.<br>

The Dolphins had 27 turnovers in this game with the Eagles scoring 30 points off the Jacksonville miscues.<br>
