UNDATED - The 150-or-so Georgia National Guardsmen in Iraq who are with a Gainesville-based unit are no longer attached to Georgia's 48th Brigade but are now with a regular Army group.
The unit has remained in combat, according to a source in Iraq, and is attached to the 10th Mountain Division.
About 4,500 Georgia guardsmen shipped out in May for a 12-month tour of duty in the war zone.
The 48th is getting a new assignment in November (see separate story) but the Gainesville unit will apparently stay where it is.
